| Convention Centre/New
Church/Camp Project
Overview For decades The Jamaican Christian Mission has operated in Kingston, which is in the southeastern end of the island. The mission has its central office, camp, college, and several major events in this area. With the increasing cost of transportation, there is a reluctance of some of the rural families to come into Kingston. As a result, apart from the camps, some programs sponsored by the mission, held in Kingston, are poorly attended. In addition there has been an increasing problem of obtaining a convention site for all of the Churches of Christ/Christian Churches to meet together on an annual basis. Also in recent times, one of the bauxite companies, operating in central Jamaica, has been mining the lands and relocating people to the central plains area of Jamaica. This has created an opportunity to start a new church and at the same time build a convention center in the central part of the Island. This new site would be much more convenient for work teams to be housed as they provide help for the various churches scattered throughout Jamaica. In addition, a new camp site could be established. This new site, located in the Parish of Clarendon, has the potential for a new ministry in the area of education and sports. Such a facility could possibly be rented to other users and become self sufficient. Based on current property rates, there is a need for $50,000 US for the cost of the land. To date we have raised just under $10.000 US. Click here for
